Our take
This is one of the two big Captain Cook dinner cruises, and between them they hold more reviews than every other dinner cruise we compare combined. It sails from King Street Wharf 1 at 5pm, boarding from 4:45pm, on MV Sydney 2000, for 1 hour 45 minutes. Three courses are standard, four on the premium option, with live music at weekends.
It rates about 4.2, below the smaller dinner boats, and the reasons are in the detail on our dinner cruises page. Drinks are extra and ordered by scanning a code at the table. Tables are allocated, not chosen, and a window seat costs more unless you book that option. One couple we watched rated the meal a solid eight but felt it was worth doing once. What it does better than most is access: the main deck takes wheelchairs, and there is a children's menu. Book the early sailing in the cooler months if you want sunset during dinner.
Good for
- An early dinner before a show or an early night
- Groups that include a wheelchair user or children
Think twice if
- You want drinks in the price. Compare Journey Beyond
- Food is the main reason you are going
