This is our pick on the surf lessons page for a first lesson in Sydney. The school sits on Ramsgate Avenue at the north end of Bondi, and it has the longest review record of any lesson we compare, rated around 4.9. A two-hour group lesson gives you about 40 minutes on the sand, covering paddling, the pop-up and reading rips, then roughly 90 minutes in the water on a soft foam board.
The wetsuit, rash vest, sunscreen and somewhere to store valuables are included. Towels are not, so bring one. The listing gives the group cap as five surfers in one place and ten in another, so ask which applies to your slot. The listing sets the age band at 18 and over; ask about children before you book. Lessons run in most weather if the surf is safe. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early to sign the waiver. A weekday or first slot avoids the fullest Bondi weekends.
