Our take
This is the yacht club lunch on our lunch cruises page. A small open-deck boat called Spectre, eight guests at most, leaves Campbells Cove pontoon at 12:30pm, and the skipper gives live commentary past the Bridge, the Opera House, Kirribilli House and Fort Denison. Then you spend about 90 minutes over a chef-prepared main course and one drink at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, home of the Sydney to Hobart race, before heading out past Shark Island and Camp Cove. It holds a perfect 5 from 40 reviews.
Read the listing's rules. Bring photo ID with your home address, which the club requires for entry; no ID means no lunch. Only one drink is included, beer, wine or soft drink, and more are extra. Wear soft-soled shoes, no heels, and men cannot wear singlets. There is nobody on the dock, so arrive by 12:10pm and look for a 37 ft white boat. Our page notes it runs 3.5 hours in April, May and September.
Good for
- A small-group harbour day with a lunch ashore
- Sailing fans curious about the Sydney to Hobart club
