Our take
Captain Cook's lunch cruise leaves King Street Wharf 1 at 12pm on MV Sydney 2000. You choose a 1.5-hour cruise with two courses, or 3 hours with three courses, and you can book a guaranteed window seat. A couple we watched on the three-course top deck lunch had bread rolls first, then smoked salmon and a pea and watercress salad, and went out on deck once dessert was cleared.
Choose the option carefully. On our lunch cruises page we would skip the three-course, three-hour version: reviewers say it runs the same 1.5-hour route twice, with a stop at Circular Quay in the middle. The two-course sailing sees the same harbour in half the time. Drinks are extra on both and ordered at the table. The boat is wheelchair accessible on the main deck; the upper deck is reached by stairs only. Check in 20 minutes before.
