Our take
Golden Glow is the highest rated sailing on our harbour cruises page and our pick for anyone who has already done the ferry. It is a 90-minute golden hour cruise on a multi-level catamaran for 45 guests at most, from Aquarium Wharf in Darling Harbour, past Barangaroo, Luna Park, the Bridge and the Opera House. Grazing platters and one drink, beer, wine, soft drink or juice, are included, with a bar for more.
Book it knowing two things the operator says plainly: it is not a guided tour, and a sunset cannot be guaranteed. Two travellers we watched on harbour dinner cruises both sailed under cloud, so keep a spare evening if the sunset is the point. Departure times move when daylight saving starts and ends in April and October, so go by your confirmation. Aquarium Wharf is a public wharf with no signage for this cruise, next to WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo and Madame Tussauds.
Good for
- A drink and the harbour lights from a small boat
- Couples and second-time visitors
Think twice if
- You want commentary on the sights
- Your only evening has a grey forecast
