Our take
This is the tall ship option on our harbour cruises page: a 90-minute afternoon sail on the Southern Swan or the Soren Larsen, historic timber ships, past the Opera House, the Bridge, Fort Denison and Taronga. Light snacks are served, and kids who want to climb the mast can, for an extra fee. A drinks package is also extra.
Two things to know before booking. It is non-refundable, so only book once your plans are fixed. And it is not wheelchair accessible. The crew meet you at Campbells Cove, between the Park Hyatt and the Overseas Passenger Terminal, at least 30 minutes before departure, and reviewers say the ship can only hold the jetty for about 15 minutes, so it will not wait. On weekdays from April to early October, the operator sells this trip as a separate product on another ship, the Coral Trekker. It rates around 4.5.
Good for
- Something different from a motor cruiser
- Families with kids who want to climb the mast
Think twice if
- Your dates might change
- You need step-free access
