Our take

This combines Taronga Zoo entry with a return Captain Cook ferry from Circular Quay Wharf 6, so you only show one ticket. The first sailing leaves at about 9am, and the crossing passes the Opera House and the city skyline. Check in at the wharf ticket office at least 15 minutes before you sail. Food and drinks are not included.

Is it worth it? Taronga is the best family half day in the city, as we say in our things to do in Sydney guide. Go in the morning, because the zoo closes at 4:30pm in winter and 5pm the rest of the year. The public ferry from Circular Quay also goes to the zoo for an ordinary fare, so the value here is the bundle and having the zoo ticket sorted. Fantasea sells a similar combo with a hop-on hop-off pass that also stops at Watsons Bay and Manly, which we list alongside it on our harbour cruises page.

Good for

  • Families who want the ferry and zoo ticket in one booking
  • A morning at the zoo with the harbour views on the way

Think twice if

  • You already have an Opal or contactless card and will use the public ferry
  • You want to see more of the harbour the same day. Compare the hop-on hop-off combo
