Our take
This is the zoo package on our whale watching page: a full day that starts with the 9:30am whale cruise from Circular Quay Wharf 6, then Taronga Zoo entry, then a ferry from the zoo back to the city. Everything must be used on the same day. The whale cruise has live commentary and carries the same sighting guarantee as Captain Cook's guarantee cruise: no whale, and you can cruise again for free.
It rates around 4.2, but from only about 18 reviews, so it is a small sample. Check in at the Wharf 6 ticket office 30 minutes before the cruise. Food and drinks are not included. The listing says whale watching is not recommended for infants 0 to 3, and child fares apply from 4 to 15. The season runs from May to November. Bring seasickness tablets if you need them, and leave time for the zoo, which closes at 4:30pm in winter.
Good for
- Families who want whales and the zoo in one booking
- Visitors with one free day in whale season
Think twice if
- Infants under 4
- You want a small whale boat. This one carries up to 150
