Our take

This is the tour we suggest on our Blue Mountains tours page if you want Scenic World and a zoo but not the lower-rated coach days. It includes an unlimited Discovery Pass for the Scenic Railway, Skyway and Cableway, a Sydney Zoo visit with a free digital koala photo, Echo Point, Gordon Falls Lookout and Cahill's Lookout over the Megalong Valley. It rates around 4.8.

The catch is size and start. The listing calls it small group but allows up to 35 people, and it leaves from the coach bays at Central Station's western forecourt, so arrive at 7:40am for the 7:55am departure. Lunch is in Leura at your own cost. It runs close to 11 hours, among the longest days we compare. A zoo stop adds about an hour of animals and takes about an hour away from the mountains, so pick it if both matter to you.

Good for

  • Scenic World and Australian animals in one day
  • Families who want the koala photo

Think twice if

  • You want a group of 20 or fewer
  • You would rather spend the zoo hour on a lookout or a walk

The afternoon is spent at Scenic World where exciting experiences await. Journey to the floor of the Jamison Valley onboard the world’s steepest railway, travel back up through the canopy on the cableway and views to Orphan Rock and the Three Sisters, and glide over the Katoomba Falls on the scenic Skyway.
