This is the only self-guided option on The Rocks walking tours page, and the only one without a guide. You solve 13 cryptic clues on the operator's web app to find the location of the Captain's ship, starting outside Customs House and working through the hidden lanes and courtyards of The Rocks, under the Harbour Bridge and along the shortest street in Sydney. Along the way it suggests three places to stop for a drink. At the end you get your stats and an explanation of the sights.
It is cheap and flexible: our page notes it runs between 8am and 7:30pm and takes 1.5 to 3 hours depending on how fast you solve it, for teams of up to four. The reviews are mixed. It rates around 4.2 from just 13 reviews, and one reviewer struggled with how the clues reach your phone, so check your phone and data are working before you start. It finishes in The Rocks, near Circular Quay.

You will get up close and personal with the living history and heritage of Australia’s first settlement area and Sydney’s oldest streets.
Wander down hidden alleyways, into mysterious courtyards, walk the shortest street in Sydney, and watch out for the notorious Rocks Push gang!
Along the way we will show you 3 awesome stop off points to enjoy some beverages if you wish.
At the end we will provide you with your stats and a detailed explanation of all the sights.
